  • Born July 22, 1955 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Roy Alfred Scoggins and Virginia Willoughby Scoggins.
  • Married to Monica Novak Scoggins for 22 years
  • One eighteen year old daughter, Ann Elizabeth Scoggins
  • Judge Scoggins and his family attend St. John’s Catholic Church in Ennis, Texas

Education:

  • Graduated from Pine Bluff high School in 1973
  • Graduated from Baylor University in 1977
  • Graduated from Baylor University School of Law in 1979
  • Passed the bar exam in the summer of 1979

Professional:

  • Practiced law with Young, Connaway and Scoggins from September 1, 1979 until September 1, 1983
  • Sworn in as Ellis County Judge on September 1, 1983 at age 28 and served in that position until March 1, 1985
  • Sworn in as Ellis County Court at Law Judge on March 1, 1985 and served in that position until December 1, 1995
  • Sworn in as Judge of the 378th District Court on December 1, 1995 by Governor George W. Bush

More about Judge Scoggins

 - As a junior in high school, Al was selected to go to Boys State  where he was elected Speaker of the House.  He served with 17 year old Mike Huckabee, who was elected Boys State Governor.

 - Family pets include a dog and horse.

 - While serving as County Judge, the Commissioners Court  had only 2 votes that were not unanimous.
